The Gray County Historical Society, the Dodge City/Fort Dodge/Cimarron Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association and the Cimarron City Library, announced on April 5, historian and scholar, Marla Matkin, will present “Women on the Santa Fe Trail” on Sunday, April 24 at the Cimarron City Library.
“Women were by no means silent bystanders, but active participants in the trail experience,” said Matkin.
Matkin’s presentation will introduce the audience to three of those pioneering women, storytellers who will reveal mysteries on the trail.
Also known for her portrayal of Elizabeth, “Libby” Custer, wife of General George Armstrong Custer, Matkin uses her love of history and theater to inspire and entertain audiences.
