DCCC Football Bolsters Staff With Addition of Two Coaches

With the Dodge City Community College (DCCC) football season approaching, the DCCC Conquistador football program announced on July 15, they have bolstered their staff with the addition of two coaches. Head Coach, Terry Karg adds to his staff in his first year with the Conquistadors.
Both Sean Kelly and Courtland Kelly join the Dodge City football staff each bring something different to the table for the Conquistadors. Sean Kelly will serve as the wide receivers coach, while Courtland Kelly will work as the running backs coach.
Sean Kelly comes to Dodge City after working and playing for Coach Karg spending the last two years on staff at Monroe College where he played his first two years of collegiate football.
The past two years at Monroe, Kelly coached the wide receivers and during the 2021 season his receiver group was part of a Monroe offense averaging 38.4 points per game, ninth in NJCAA, on 353.5 yards per game. They ranked 20th in the NJCAA.
The team averaged 202.7 passing yards per game, 16th in NJCAA, and would finish the season ranked sixth in the NJCAA with a 10-1 record and bowl game experience. The passing offense also ranked fourth in passing yards per completion and eighth in passing touchdowns in the NJCAA.
Prior to coaching Kelly played college football playing under Coach Karg his first two years at Monroe before transferring on to Missouri Southern State University. While at Monroe in two seasons he was a part of 15-4 record and earned All-NEFC second team honors his sophomore year. He played in 14 games for Monroe throwing for 1,677 yards with 19 touchdowns and only six interceptions, while adding 121 yards rushing with seven touchdowns. At Missouri Southern State he started his junior year playing in 11 games throwing for 883 yards with 157 yards rushing and three touchdowns, while he played in five games his senior season.
Kelly earned his bachelor's degree from Missouri Southern State in 2020 and his MBA from Monroe 2021.
"To continue to learn from Coach Karg and help develop players on the field and off, helping them achieve all their goals is something that excites me about this opportunity. The competition in the conference and the opportunity growth within the program seems to be a great opportunity," said Sean Kelly about joining the Conquistador staff.
He hopes to bring a level of excitement and energy to the program to help in the teams development, especially in the passing attack.
Courtland Kelly joins the Dodge City football staff after coaching in the high school ranks over the past seven years. He coached at Kestrel Heights high school in Durham, North Carolina and Broughton high school in Raleigh, North Carolina.
While at Kestrel he coached a pair of runningbacks to 1,000-yard seasons. In college at North Carolina A&T University, Kelly worked as a team manager for the basketball team for four years. He played high school football four years at Morrisville and earned all-league honors at center and nose guard his junior and senior year.
Kelly earned his bachelor's degree from North Carolina A&T.

It has always been a dream of mine to work at the collegiate level and I'm excited to get wake up every day and just grind helping the current players and future players achieve their dreams and goals at Dodge City and beyond. Also, excited to learn from all these experienced coaches on staff and bring my own knowledge and passion for the game of football to the program," said Courtland Kelly regarding joining the Dodge City staff.
He hopes to bring his fire and passion for the game to not only the field, but the classroom and community and help the young men in the football program grow as people and players.
The DCCC Conquistador football team will open the 2022 season on the road in Council Bluffs, Iowa against Iowa Western on Saturday, Aug. 27 with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
