Dodge City football took to the field for the first time at home during the 2022 season as they hosted Coffeyville for their KJCCC opener and while the Conquistadors improved from week one ultimately it was the Red Ravens who earned the 38-10 win.

The contest opened with scoring drives on the first three drives of the game as Coffeyville covered 52 yards on the first drive capping it with a three-yard touchdown run. The Conqs answered covering 75 yards in nine plays to tie the game up at 7-7 as Grant Ciccarone tossed a 31-yard touchdown pass to Kam'Ryn Thomas on a fourth and 14 play.

Coffeyville countered the Conqs score with another touchdown drive and then a 28-yard field goal on their next drive to make it 17-7 early in the second quarter. The Conqs got the ball moving again setting up a 22-yard field goal by Dylan Seeker on a 13-play drive covering 53 yards. With under a minute left to go in the first half, the Red Ravens found the endzone for the third time in the first half making it 24-10 at intermission.

In the second half, both teams would pick up the defense to keep each other off the scoreboard until Coffeyville broke through for two more touchdowns to make it 38-10.

The Conqs were outgained in the contest, 498 to 235 total yards and struggled with three turnovers, while the game was plagued by penalties with a combined 21 penalties for over 200 yards between both teams.

In the loss, Ciccarone was 13-28 for 142 yards with a touchdown and interception, while Mark McDonald ran for 51 yards on 13 carries. Thomas caught the lone touchdown of the game for the Conqs finishing with a pair of catches for 36 yards.

Defensively, both Jonethan Wiltshire and Jaden Kelly tallied seven tackles, while Kelly added a sack and tackle for loss. Adrian Hardy and Bobby Arnold III both nabbed interceptions.
