Garden City Community College to Hold Two Commencement Ceremonies in May
Garden City Community College (GCCC) will hold two commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 6 inside the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex.
Students graduating with an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) or a Certificate will attend the 4 p.m. ceremony. Students graduating with an Associate in Science (AS), Associate in Arts (AA), or Associate in General Studies (AGS) will attend the 7 p.m. ceremony.
According to GCCC, the change to two ceremonies was made to accommodate the audience size and allow graduates to invite all their supporters.
Each commencement ceremony will be a full ceremony including a student speaker, president's message, outstanding student recognition, and the conferring of degrees.
This year's commencement marks the 102nd graduating class from Garden City Community College and the return to a traditional in-person format since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I am very excited to share in the celebration of commencement, times two this year,” said GCCC President Dr. Ryan Ruda. “This will allow our graduates to be celebrated by all of their family, friends, and supporters. I look forward to seeing each graduate take the stage during the afternoon or evening ceremony."
