Grant County Man Dies after Rear-ending Semitrailer

A Grant County, Kan. man died after rear-ending a semitrailer on Saturday, Sept. 17.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), a 1982 Peterbilt Semi, driven by Vernal Keith Lattimore, 39, Ulysses, Kan., and a 2005 Kenworth Semi, driven by James Eugene Wilson, 74, Ulysses, Kan., were both headed westbound on U.S. Route160 at mile marker 54, or 14 miles east of Ulysses.
THE KHP crashlog stated the Peterbilt slowed to turn onto Kansas Highway 190 when it was rear-ended by the Kenworth.
James Wilson was brought to Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kan., where he was later pronounced dead.
Lattimore incurred no apparent injury.
Neither driver was wearing seatbelts.
