Liberal Woman Transported to Colorado Hospital After Accident

A 22-year-old Liberal, Kan. woman was taken to the hospital for suspected serious injury following an accident in Seward County on June 25.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) crash log, the accident took place at 8:41 p.m. on U83 at the second mile marker at Jewell Ave.
The crash log stated a 2017 Nissan Maxima driven by Alondra Beyna-Chavez turned south from Jewell Ave. onto the U83, entering the northbound lane.
In doing so the Maxima drove into the path of a 2003 Peterbilt semi-tractor, driven by Julio Cesar Barboza, 26, Liberal, Kan.
The Maxima spun away from impact and came to rest facing north in the west ditch. The semi-tractor came to rest completely in the east ditch facing north.
Beyna-Chavez was taken to the Swedish Medical Center in Colorado for her injuries.
Barboza incurred no apparent injury.
Neither party was wearing their seatbelts according to the KHP.
