Man Arrested for Stalking; Violent Outburst in Elementary School Parking Lot

A Garden City, Kan. man was arrested after a violent stalking incident at an elementary school, on April 4.

Richard Goldy, 81, was arrested on charges of Stalking, Criminal Damage to Property, and Disorderly Conduct.

Garden City Police Department (GCPD) were dispatched to Florence Wilson Elementary located at 1709 Labrador Boulevard, for criminal damage that had just occurred. Officers were notified of a man who slashed a tire in front of the school.

Investigation revealed a woman had arrived at school to drop off her child when a man, later identified as Richard Goldy approached her vehicle and used a pocketknife to puncture a tire of the woman’s vehicle.

Goldy then yelled profanities at the woman while punching her windows and left the school before law enforcement arrived. GCPD learned Goldy had been stalking the woman for several months.

Goldy was later located and arrested at his residence; and was lodged in the Finney County Jail.
