A pilot had to be extricated from his aircraft after the plane crashed in a field on Aug. 22 in Pleasant Valley Township in Finney County, Kan.
At approximately 10:25 a.m. on the Garden City Fire Department was dispatched to a plane crash located at 355 East Sondreagger Road.
Upon arrival, fire personnel found a small Ultralight Aircraft laying in the field on the north side of the road.
Fire units made contact with a bystander who was trying to free the patient from the aircraft. The bystander advised he had seen the aircraft from north US Highway 83 and Sondreagger Road.
Same time, fire personnel made contact with the pilot of the aircraft, identifying one male patient. The patient had incurred facial injuries as well as back and arm pain.
Fire personnel advised Finney County Emergency Medical Services of the patient’s injuries and advised incoming fire units that extrication would be needed for the pilot.
The wing of the aircraft was removed by fire personnel to gain access to the patient. Fire personnel extricated the patient from the aircraft and loaded him into the ambulance to be transported by Finney County Emergency Medical Services.
Garden City Fire Department stated the scene was turned over to the Kansas Highway Patrol at approximately 11:08 a.m.
