Men's Golf Claims First Place at First Conference Tournament of Spring

The clubs were swinging well to open the spring season for the Dodge City men's golf team as they competed in the first Jayhawk Match of the spring that was hosted at Colbert Hills golf course in Manhattan and the Conquistador won the event.

Behind a two-round score of 599 to finish +23 the Conqs edged out Hutchinson by three strokes for first place as a team at the Jayhawk Match I. The Conqs shot a 299-team score in the first round and then a 300 in the second round. The Conqs beat a pair of Top 10 ranked teams and the tournament win marks the first time since 2018 that a team other than Hutchinson won a Jayhawk Conference tournament.

The four-man quartet that made up the team score for the Conqs consisted of Brent Reintjes, George Fricker, Woramett Bodhidatta, and Supakit Seelanagae who all finished seventh or better individually out of 51 total golfers.

Reintjes paced the Conqs earning third place with a score of 148 in two rounds shooting a 75 and 73. While, George Fricker shot a 72 in his first round and 78 in his second round to finish at 150 and tied for fifth with his teammate, Bodhidatta who shot a 150 on rounds of 77 and 73. Seelanagae finished with a 151 to tie for seventh place as he posted rounds of 75 and 76.

Eight other Conqs teed off at the tournament also and put forth strong performances. Kitsakon Jairak tied for ninth with a 153. Austin Goodrum tied for 15th place with a 156, while Luka Stanisavljevic shot a 157 to tie for 17th. Carson Briggs, Cholnan Nunya, and Evan Lindsey placed tied for 24th, tied for 26th, and 28th respectively with rounds of 162, 163, and 165. Davan Smith and Cole Streck were also in action, and both shot at 170 to tie for 30th place.

Conqs step out of conference play for their next spring action as they will compete at the Bethel Invite on Saturday and Sunday, April 2nd-3rd.
