Men's Soccer Routes Tabor JV in Season Opener

Eager to get the season going the men's soccer team hit the road for the season opener taking on Tabor JV and took control early in route to a 9-2 victory to open the season.


The Conquistadors would get goals from six different players with six different guys also recording an assist in the victory, also. It didn't take long for the Conqs to get on the board as Marlon Lopez netted the first goal of the season on a penalty kick just under eight minutes into the contest, as the penalty kick was set up by a handball inside the box. Lopez made it 2-0 Conqs at the 12:29 mark of the match putting his second goal into the net this time off a Janik Buch cross. Rentaro Miyakawa recorded his first goal of the season on a Yanis Debbarh pass too make it 3-0 Conqs in the first 17 minutes of the match.


The Conqs found the back of the net four more times before halftime to lead 7-0 at intermission as Andres Rocha and Diego Marcelino Olivares each notched a goal, while Erik Martinez tallied two.


Second half saw Tabor JV get a pair of goals but the Conqs finish the contest strong and in the final minutes of the match Lopez recorded his third goal with Buch getting his second assist and Buch also finished things off for the Conqs with goal in the 87th minute to cap the match at 9-2.


Conqs out shot Tabor JV 37-5 finishing with 23 shots on goal. Lopez paced the Conqs with a hat-trick, while Martinez had a pair of goals and an assist. Buch and Rocha each finished with a goal and two assists.


The Conqs are at home for the next three contests with a matchup against Northeastern (CO) up next on Wednesday, August 24th.
