Shade Torres Named KJCCC Outdoor Track & Field "Field Athlete of the Week"

For the 28th time this school year, a Dodge City athlete has earned KJCCC "Athlete of the Week" honors and for the first time this year, it has come in the sport of track and field.


Shade Torres earns the women's Outdoor Track & Field "Field Athlete of the Week" honors from the KJCCC after qualifying for the NJCAA Outdoor National Championships in the javelin last week at the Broncbuster Invite.


After nearly qualifying for Nationals in the first competition of the spring season the previous week Torres registered a toss of 38.58 meters (126'07) at the Broncbuster Invite to qualify by over two meters.


Torres and the Conquistador track and field team are set to continue the outdoor season on Friday, April 15th at the Loper Invitational at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
