Volleyball Awarded USMC/AVCA Team Academic Honors

Dodge City Community College (DCCC) announced on July 18, the volleyball team excelled both on the court and in the classroom during the 2021-22, receiving USMC/AVCA Team Academic honors.


The honor marks the third time in DCCC history to earn the distinction and the Conquistadors are one of over 1,200 collegiate and high school programs to earn the honor from the AVCA this year.


The DCCC volleyball team are one of 25 two-year women's college programs to get awarded the team academic honors for the AVCA in for the 2021-22 school year.


The team put together a 16-9 season going 8-8 in KJCCC action, the most Conference wins since 2010, and finishing fourth in the Conference this past season under Head Coach, Jordan Bruere in her second season leading the program.


In the classroom the Conquistadors put together a team GPA of 3.36 to earn Academic recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.


The award from the AVCA is given to volleyball programs who finish the school year with a team GPA of 3.30 or above. The volleyball finished with a 3.36 team GPA and had 13 of the 17 team members finish with a 3.0 GPA or better for the year with 10 of them finishing with a 3.5 or better.


The Conquistadors head into the 2022-23 school year looking for another strong season on the court and look to continue their success in the classroom.


The 2022 season starts for the volleyball team with games at the McCook Tournament in Nebraska on Aug. 19-20 before hosting Hutchinson on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m. to open conference play.
