Dodge City volleyball hit the road traveling to the east side of Kansas on Tuesday and took on Neosho County in a non-conference matchup and earned the straight-set sweep.
The Conquistadors picked up the win 27-25, 25-21, 25-13 to improve to 6-3 on the season.
After an hour-long delay due to the fire alarm going off before the start of the match, the Conqs finally got the night going and quickly established a 5-1 advantage in the first set. That lead would hold up until late in the first set when Neosho County tied the game at 22-22 and even took the lead with set point looming for them. The Conqs fended off set point and pushed the match into extra points and won it 27-25. Set two was back-and-forth early but Neosho County would then grab the lead and go up by five until a string of aces by Martyna Kmuk helped the Conqs grab the lead late in the second set and ultimately take it 25-21. Conqs established control in the third set early and went on to cruise past the Panthers in the set claiming it 25-13 to take the match in straight sets.
Kmuk highlighted the night for the Conqs as she had a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs while adding six aces. Ozge Tan and Oliwia Durka each recorded double-figure kills with 10 each, while Tan filled the stat sheet in other ways too with 10 digs and four aces. Nur Yaren Turkmenoglu tallied 37 assists in the win and defensively Jatnna Pena had 24 digs as the libero.
Up next Conqs are in action at home for just the second time this season as they set for a non-conference triangular starting at 3:00 pm.
